Gone So Soon

“Thanks for the rescue and all, but I gotta skidaddle,” Gabriel’s lips form into a fine line as he starts for the door.

You watch in anger, brows furrowed with discontempt.

Gabriel, Sam, and Cas hadn’t noticed that you’d entered the bunker just a few moments ago. But you’d rushed there as soon as Sam told you the news.

“Running off so soon?” You called from under the arch of the main doorway.

At the sound of your voice, all three men turned your way.

Gabriel’s eyes grew wide with all kinds of emotions.

You and the archangel had a past. A long and complicated one, but in the end, the two of you had loved each other.

It wasn’t easy moving on. Guess it was a good thing you hadn’t.

“Y/N, I-“

“Well c’mon, let’s get outta here,” you smiled, sending Sam and Cas an apologetic glance.

Gabriel’s wide smirk lit up the whole room. The fluttering of wings announced his presence by your side and you waved a short farewell to the other two.

“Sorry, boys, but we’ve got some catching up to do!”

And with that, you and the archangel disappeared.

Okay my only issue with this episode was Sam and Gabriel’s talk (More like Sam talking to Gabriel). I wish it either were: Cas instead of Sam, or less heartfelt, more encouraging, I guess? The “I need you” was so out there. The rest honestly would have been okay.

I agree the writers missed a huge opportunity to build upon Gabriel’s and Cas’ brotherly connection. I kept thinking back to their hug in Meta Fiction and how great it would have been to expand upon the small snippet of their relationship we were shown.
