Mocking Dick (4)

The rest of the night was a buzz of excitement and held an energetic air around it. You’d had a few drinks in the midst of the craziness, which helped loosen you up. No need to be uptight on your vacation.
You giggled happily in the green room with the rest of your friends and coworkers as Matt told a joke. The liquor you’d had was drowning out anything negative.
Briana whispered something in your ear about her husband and you laughed again. The room was full of bubbly smiling and laughter.
The only thing that stopped your bout of giggles was when Rich got up from his spot next to Rob and announced that he’d be retiring for the night.
Your eyes met his for a fraction of a second, but it didn’t go unnoticed by Rob, who was planning on leaving with Rich until he saw you two make eye contact.
“I’ll see you up soon,” Rob waved at his best friend as he walked out the door.
The alcohol in your system weighed down in your stomach, but gave you a sudden boost of courage and confidence.
“I’m gonna go… get some water,” you sputtered out, carefully standing and walking over to leave the room.
The halls outside were silent, except for the soft steps of Rich’s shoes slowly walking down toward his room.
You didn’t want to make any noise, but the floor gave you away by letting out a small squeak.
“Y/n, I know you’re there.”
Rich turned around and faced you. His eyes sent butterflies to your stomach despite your drunken state. How he’d heard you or known you were there, you had no idea. But just the way he looked at you brought you one step closer to being sober.
