If you ever tagged me to do one of those tag game thingies and I never did it:
1) Thank you, seriously. Those are fun and being included shows that my followers care enough to want to learn more about me.
2) Very sorry about that, it’s extremely likely that I said to myself “Cool! But I’m busy at the moment, I’ll have to do this later today or tomorrow” before proceeding to just straight-up forget, now it’s too far back in my notifications and/or your blog to find again.
Yes, this, or I realize I don’t know who to tag and as an introvert that makes me super nervous 😅
Series summary: You were a leader in the Resistance against Michael in the Apocalypse Universe, fighting alongside legends like Charlie Bradbury, Bobby Singer, and the archangel Gabriel. After a mission went horribly wrong, you lost Gabriel to Michael, and you were thrown into a whirlwind of emotions, but not given time to deal with the grief of losing your comrade. One thing leads to another, and a new ally brings friends from another universe to aid in your fight against Michael. One of these newcomers is a dead ringer for your fallen friend and brings your recently buried grief back to the surface. Between the stress of seeing the face of your dead right-hand man every day, not dealing with your grief, and the inevitable confrontation between the Resistance and Michael, you start crumbling. But who’s going to be there to help pick up your pieces?
Warnings: Angst (and lots of it), referenced character death, grief/mourning, fluff, depression, self-hate, mentions of suicide, character death, slow burn… I am probably missing some others
Word Count: ~3.1k
A/N: If you read the preview, a little editing has been done since then so it will be different.
* * *
You walked through the dead quiet woods, making your way back to the resistance base in Dayton. Nearing the outskirts of the only safe living space left, voices echoed throughout the woods. You spotted Jack speaking to two men who you had never seen before. They held themselves in such a way that it was almost immediately recognizable how protective they were of each other. One was shorter and had short dirty blonde hair. The taller one had a beautiful mane of luxurious brown hair.
As you approached, the voices became more distinct and the words they were saying were audible. Anger was easily heard coming from one of them.
“Jack…” you called out cautiously, raising an angel blade out in front of you. “Who are they?”
“Y/N,” Jack smiled, happy to see you’d returned. “This is Sam and Dean,” he gestured to each of them in turn. “They came to help us.” You looked Sam and Dean over, not lowering the blade. “They’re the ones I told you about. The hunters who saved the world from the apocalypse.”
You lowered the angel blade, placing it in the duffle bag that hung from your shoulder and nodded. “Well, thank you both for coming. I’m Y/N, leader of the resistance. I’ve been a hunter all my life and I’ve been battling Michael for almost nine years. I’ve also come face to face with all four archangels on more than one occasion. Welcome to the resistance.”
“Well, we’re happy to help,” Sam said. He extended a hand and you grasped it, shaking it firmly.
“Jack!” Someone called out. You looked in the direction of the voice, locking eyes with Lucifer, Gabriel, and Castiel. You did a double take when you saw Castiel. This man was most certainly Castiel, but he was not your universe’s Cas. This one was smiling and had two bright blue eyes that looked like nothing could ever stop them from shining.
But, your eyes shined, almost hopeful, when you caught a glimpse of Gabriel, he was just as you remembered him… but he was dead.
