A/N: Apologizing for the length… I honestly didn’t think this story would be this long.
Word Count: 1,982 words
The screams of the crowd roared as the Grand Master introduced the fight. You decided to attend the battle despite your burning hate for the god of mischief.
Sadly, thanks to Loki’s charm, you were allowed into the small room that overlooked the arena. He sat a few seats behind you and his eyes were almost burning holes into your head.
The first contender steps onto the field, and looks an awful lot like… Thor?
You fight the urge to ask Loki if he knew about this, which you’re sure he did. The two of them better have a plan. With all the talk about the champion, Thor is in for a hell of a fight.
The crowd chants, holding up signs and wearing costumes to cheer on the infamous fighter. Green practically covers the entire crowd; those outfits also look very similar to…
The door across from Thor slowly opens, revealing the contender. The Hulk clambers out, hyping up the audience even further.
“I have to get out of here,” you hear Loki mutter.
No matter how you’re feeling about the god of mischief in that moment, you quickly turn around to gauge Loki’s reaction. His is the same as yours: terribly concerned and just a tad bit more scared than you. He locks eyes with you and physically gulps.
You’re immediately drawn back to the tussle, which Hulk dominates until Thor suddenly regains his ability to control lightning. Then, Thor is disabled and dragged off the field.
The stadium starts to slowly empty as onlookers get bored of small fights. They had already watched the most important one anyways.
You follow suit, not sure where you’re going but wanting to find a way off this demented planet. It takes awhile for the crowd to even slightly disperse so you stand still and wait. A hand grabs your shoulder in the mess of things, tugging you off to the side.
Loki looks down on you with an urgent glint in the way he talks. You didn’t think he was talking to you after his explosion earlier.
“I need your help.”
“W-what? Why?” Your face is full of concern and worry. What if something had happened to Thor?
“It’s Thor, we have to-“
Loki is suddenly jerked back by the arm of a very strong woman. She looks awfully familiar, but with white symbols drawn on her face.
“Hey! Where are you going?” You call, running after the two of them.
You follow the woman back to her small living space, talking only a bit about what she wanted and why she needed the god of mischief.
“He’s not what he seems. I know you’re Asgardian, so you wish to help Thor, correct?”
You nod, “Of course, he’s a good friend.”
She throws Loki into a chair and ties him down easily despite his struggling. He tries to catch your attention and asks for help but you listen to the woman.
“Loki and I were tasked with rounding up both Thor and the Hulk for a large reward. I assume you didn’t know that they are on the loose?”
“No, I had no idea.”
“I would like to help them escape, but I’m afraid that Loki would not.”
Your eyes avert to Loki who has since stopped struggling in the chair and gazes at you.
“Do not listen to her, Y/N. I would never do that to Thor…”
You stifle a chuckle and then quickly put on a serious face.
“I’ve known you for so long, Loki. You may be the god of lies, but that was pretty pathetic. Your first instinct is always to downgrade your brother.”
Loki sulks back into his chair, completely aware that he wasn’t in a position of power in this state. It was surely driving him crazy.
You roll your eyes at the god’s child-like behaviour and turn to your new ally.
“Alright, so what’s the plan to get off this hell-hole?”
–
“Thank Odin you’re alive,” you immediately rush to Thor as he enters the room and hug him. He had always been a good friend, you would have been heartbroken if he was trapped here.
Thor openly returns your embrace and motions for you to see the other person in the room.
Behind him is the very intelligent scientist with an angry, green alter-ego.
“Nice to see you again, Banner,” you hold a hand out to which Bruce shakes.
“Likewise.”
The four of you discuss the plan to leave with a few unwarranted comments from Loki. Most of the conversation was said aloud to everyone, but some of it was talked about privately. None of you trusted the god of mischief. He was surely going to sell out his brother and Banner, it was only a matter of time.
“Let’s get this show on the road. Thor, you’ll take Loki. Y/N, Bruce and I will head out together,” the girl, known as 142, and coincedentally, a former Valkyrie soldier, announces.
“Are you sure I can’t take Y/n instead?” Loki practically purrs, taking in the sight of you with ravaging eyes.
The rest of the party ignores his question and begins heading out. You, on the other hand, wait for him to be by your side before leaning into his ear.
“You find me after all this is over and you can take me however you please, my king,” you whisper lowly.
The arrogant smirk on Loki’s face grows as the two of you try keeping up with the others.
–
“We’ve gotta go! Thor and Loki should be just around there,” you call, rushing toward the warehouse full of transportation.
As you, 142, and Banner catch sight of the entrance, a smaller, fighter jet slowly comes into view. Thor is in the driver’s seat, waiting for the rest of you. Loki, on the other hand, doesn’t seem to be in there.
The three of you board the jet, with Banner in the back with 142 and you next to Thor. Loki is nowhere on the ship.
“Thor… you left him behind, didn’t you?”
He solemnly glances at you before starting the engines and lifting the plane into the air.
“I’m sorry, Y/n. I knew you two were somehow close, but he would have gotten away with betraying me.”
You nod silently. Loki was merely a distraction for you, not a permanent fixture, right?
Not much long after taking off had you all reached the portal back to Asgard and gone through. The sight in front of you was chaos in its purest form.
The bifrost was full of Asgard’s citizens running for safety followed by an army of skeletons that seemed set to kill anything. That’s when you noticed a familiar figure leading the Asgardians.
“Thor, look, it’s Heimdall!”
You caught a glimpse of hope among this madness. The fight was far from over.
Thor’s grip tightens on the wheel of the jet and you can tell something is worrying him.
He turns to you, “Y/n, take 142 and Banner with you, help Heimdall protect our people. I have to deal with Hela.”
Without a single second of thought, Thor hands the piloting off to you and jumps off the plane. You can see a streak of lightning follow him to the castle, causing a small smile on your face.
The moment is short-lasted, as you tell Banner to drive, simple, and 142 takes to the weaponry in the back.
Then, you jump out, landing straight onto the bifrost in between the Asgardians and the army of undead soldiers.
Heimdall stands behind you, and with a thankful grin on his face, charges at the skeleton creatures alongside you.
Everything turns into fight mode.
Fight or be killed. Fight or let your people die.
“Behind you!” You shout at Heimdall, only for him to be saved by the raining of bullets from your ally in the sky.
The battle switched gears once the Hulk entered. He kept the enemy at bay but they somehow managed to come back even stronger.
You felt the wear and tear of war begin to affect your body once it seemed like you’d gone through thousands of enemies but hadn’t made a dent. As an Asgardian, you were meant to be a skilled warrior, but your physical exhaustion was getting the best of you.
In a split second, you felt the weight of an undead soldier’s body pin you down as his sword inched toward your throat. You felt the inevitable pull of death consuming you and the blade knicked your skin.
You prayed to Odin, to anyone, that this not be one of your last breaths. This would not be where your soul would rest for eternity.
Suddenly, the soldier was tossed off of you and over the bifrost’s edge.
You took a shaky breath in, seeing the face of your hero stand over you.
Loki grabbed your hand and brought you to a standing position. Behind him sat a giant ship that the Asgardians were boarding.
“L-Loki,” you breathed heavily, “Thank you.”
His emerald eyes held a hint of worry but soon crinkled in as he smiled.
“I need you to get all the Asgardians and get them on board that ship. I’ve got to help Thor.”
“Please be careful.”
With no hesitation, you grabbed the lapels of his uniform and quickly pressed your lips to his. Though surprised, he practically melted into your touch.
As instantaneously as it had begun, you pushed away and ran off to aid the people who needed you. You may have possibly mucked things up between the two of you, but the impending threat of death had given you enough courage.
Loki, seemingly caught off guard for a moment, ran toward the castle as you returned to fighting.
The thought of kissing Loki fueled your intense desire to save as many people as you could. Asgard was no longer a place you all could call home and therefore, everyone needed to leave.
You and your friends did your best to ward off the undead men from the ship, though it was proving more and more difficult by the second.
The Asgardians were somewhat safe in the ship and you stood on top of it, waiting for any glimpse of Thor and Loki.
In that instant, you felt everything stop. The sounds of swords clashing and soldiers falling into the ocean paused, only to be overtaken by a horrendous wailing coming from Asgard’s center. The body of Surtur rose from the ashes of the castle and towered over everything.
You audibly gasped. They did it; they started Ragnarok. That must have been the plan. Thor could not have possibly defeated Hela, and the prophecy had to come true.
Surtur screamed in success of taking over Asgard, shaking the ground with every word.
In the distance, you could see Loki and Thor running down the bifrost to get to the ship. You felt a wave of relief wash over you as you jumped down to where the passengers stood.
In came the brothers who everyone cheered for. You gazed as Thor placed a patch on his eye. By Odin’s beard, the battle had made him look more like his father.
Thor stepped forward and took his seat at the helm of the vessel. 142 and Banner stood to the left just a few feet away.
Loki’s gaze ultimately fell on you as he took your hand in his and led the both of you to the right of Thor. You interlaced your fingers between his and immediately felt at home.
How could you feel so safe despite watching your home be destroyed?
Thor felt the thick tension in the air; the same question lied within everyone’s minds.
“Asgard was not our home. Wherever we go: that is our home. As long as we are together, there is nowhere we can’t make into ours.”
You felt Loki’s hand relax into yours and you knew: this was your home.
#I DON’T UNDERSTAND WHAT I NEED TO WRITE MY NAME FOR
This is the single greatest thing this fandom has ever produced.
This is fucking transcendental. AND THE BEST PART IS THAT IT’S ENTIRELY WITHIN THE REALM OF CANON POSSIBILITY.
I’m actually surprised that this hasn’t happened.
poor sammy
Dean: “Uh…character flaws for 100”
Gabriel: “This character suffers from crippling issues with his own self-worth due to a lifetime spent religiously obeying his abusive father!”
Dean: “Oh come on…”
Gabriel: “Final answer?”
Dean: “No uh…Dean. Who is Dean? Me. Whatever.”
Gabriel: “Correct! Nnnnnext category!”
Dean: “…C-character flaws for 200.”
Gabriel: “This character used to consider himself the better of two brothers, but after several years of reckless decisions and huge failings that left hundreds perhaps thousands dead he’s since spiraled into a perpetual state of self-hatred and depression!”
Dean: *side-eyes Sam* “C-can I choose another category?”
Gabriel: “Nope!”
Dean: “But I—“
Gabriel: “Oh come on this one is EASSSYY! I’ll even give you a hint.”
Dean: “No I—“
Gabriel: “It’s the same brother who got your mom kille—”
Dean: “SAM ALRIGHT? SAM. WHO IS SAM?”
Gabriel: “CCCOOOORREECCTTT! AND DEAN IS BLAZING UP THE LEADER BOARD. NNNNEXT QUESTION!”
*Both Winchesters sink into immense inescapable self loathing*
Gabriel: You’re still in control of the board Dean, you’re doing great.
Dean: *smirks at Sam* Ok, let’s get out of this fucking category. Sexual Humiliation for 500.
Gabriel: If you’re sure. “This character tried on panties and he liked it.”
Sam: *buzz* “Who is Dean?”
Gabriel: Right you are my boy.
Dean: Dammit Sam, how did you know that??
Sam: It was an educated guess. I’ll take sexual humiliation for 300.
Gabriel: “This character is in love with a certain rebel angel named Castiel and he won’t admit it.“
Castiel: *buzz* “Who is Dean?”
Gabriel: Correctomundo! I’m surprised you got that, you always were a bit dense bro.
Dean: CAS?!
Castiel: *ignores dean* Why are these answers in the forms of questions? Or should I say *buzz* “These answers are in the form of questions” to make it a question. It’s all very confusing.
Gabriel: Come on, kiddo you’re sucking the fun out of it. Just pick a category.
Castiel: *squints at board* .. uh.. Betrayal for $100.
(laser beam noises)
Castiel: What-
Gabriel: WOULD YOU LOOK AT THAT IT’S THE DAILY DOUBLE!
Sam and Dean: *groaning*
Gabriel: How much you wanna wager?
Castiel: Wager? Gambling really isn’t a good habit, and I’m not sure-
Gabriel: All right, the whole $500 it is! “This character betrayed his family for the Winchesters, then betrayed the Winchesters for Crowley, and then, in proper assbutt fashion, betrayed Crowley for himself. And then kind of fucked the world over a few times too, in the meanwhile.”
Castiel: … *heavy sigh* I promised I would redeem myself-
Gabriel: OOPS WRONG ANSWER. We’ll open it to the other contestants.
Sam: *buzz* Who is Castiel?
Dean: Sammy, come on..
Sam: What? I wanna win..
It got better
Every bit of this is gold.
It was a quick thing but here’s Gabriel’s special effects look from the last episode 🧐🙈
